Lamposts and bike lane bollards are particularly sparkly in the 700 block of Fort Street just in time for summer to start.
The Downtown Victoria Business Association's Wednesday (June 18) Scrub Up, builds on the momentum of the Neighbour Network pilot program that strengthens communication between businesses, residents and the agencies that serve them.
It's about "spending time together to gussy up the street as we head into the busy summer season and making those connections between business owners because that's what strengthens the block and ultimately that's what's great about our downtown," said DVBA CEO Jeff Bray. "It's about connecting so that everybody knows what's going on. That connection really strengthens the sense of safety and community on the block."
He and other community leaders such as Mayor Marianne Alto, VicPD Chief Constable Fiona Wilson, Fire Chief Dan Atkinson scrubbed windows, bollards, ledges and swept sidewalks alongside business owners and staff.
