Sandra Di Stefano, a local volunteer with Orphaned Wildlife (OWL) released a young kestrel into the wild near Vavenby on Sept. 2. The young bird was found on the ground after one of the summer's heat waves. It's believed the bird got pushed out of the nest. After six weeks, the bird was banded and released back into the wild where it was found.
