A fire devastated the Mid-Island Co-Op gas station located along the Alberni Highway in Whiskey Creek. Nine fire departments attended the incident, providing mutual aid in fire suppression and support for water supply. Both the Coombs-Hilliers Volunteer Fire Department and the police confirmed that no one was injured. Firefighters were on scene until after 10 p.m. to suppress any remaining hotspots.
