Canadian Shawn Mendes came away from the American Music Awards with a win for favourite adult contemporary artist The Pickering, Ontario-raised singer shared the stage last night with music producer Zedd to perform their song "Lost in Japan" Taylor Swift won artist of the year, beating out Drake, Ed Sheeran, Imagine Dragons and Post Malone at the fan-voted show Swift also won tour of the year and favourite pop/rock album with "reputation" That means Swift has won a total of 23 AMA's in her life -- a new record for a female performer Despite having the year's top-selling album, three number-one hits and eight AMA nominations, Toronto rapper Drake didn't win a single award Drake did not attend the show Female rapper Cardi B won three awards (The Canadian Press)
