Feral rabbits on Annacis Island were hit with an outbreak of the deadly rabbit hemorrhagic virus. It's the second confirmed incident following the deaths of hundreds of rabbits in Nanaimo, B.C., prompting the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development to issue a warning to pet owners. North Delta resident Jeff Sawatzky was fond of the Annacis Island rabbits, and shared a video with the North Delta Reporter of him feeding them outside his workplace.
