Local children had plenty of opportunity to skate, joke or talk with Santa on Saturday, as the jolly old elf spent most of the afternoon at Hope's library and recreation centre. At the library, a decade-old tradition saw kids writing letters to Santa, making Christmas crafts, and eating snacks. Each child also received a free book from First Book Canada, via UFV Hope. Sponsors also included Hope and District Arts Council, Read Right Society and Friends of Hope Library. Santa read stories to the children after visiting with them individually, then made his way over to the ice rink where he skated with children and read another story.
