Canadian Shawn Mendes won the best-artist trophy at the latest MTV Awards in London. The 19-year-old also won best-song for "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back." He beat Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift for the best-artist top prize. Swift had five nominations but was shut out.
