The Oak Bay News welcomed local business women and others making a difference in the comment to its annual Women in Business event at the Victoria Golf Club Thursday, Feb. 23. A pianist performed while the ladies and a handful of gents networked and caught up with old friends and new before the festivities of guest speakers and myriad door prizes. Keynote speaker Pam Bavington shared the story of the families successful foray into horseradish. The Oak Bay-based Hee-Haw HorseRadish. Guests heard how the Oak Bay Kiwanis provides care for 250 people, specifically the 122 in the Kiwanis Pavilion, supported through the local Kiwanis foundation, providing much-needed equipment and extras to create a homey feel. Hee-Haw surprised guests with a jar of the hot stuff on the way out the door. A surprise door prize of social membership for VGC and a Just Matcha gift bag polished off the evening.
